Baby Warrior Enlivens History

History comes alive!  The mystery of culture gets unlocked before the baby's very eyes. This is an encounter he would not forget. He will gain pride in his heritage. Learning is his key in accepting his identity. Fastforward, this child would understand his own unique background. Getting introduced to cultural activities at an early age would make him easily understand his genealogy. Children make history.  They do not have to make believe that they are the lion king or pocahontas in far away lands. But they would feel awesome that they are the warrior in their very own land. In their generation, they make the connection! "A baby warrior is an angel whose wings decrease as his legs increase" ;) author unknown "Peace begins with babies" [Carrie Crippen Fisher] . God bestowed them with innate wisdom. He breathed his life-giving Spirit so they already know how to appreciate ...

Street Dance Parade

STREET DANCE, more formally known as vernacular dance, is an umbrella term used to describe dance styles that evolved outside of dance studios in any available open space such as streets, dance parties, block parties, parks, school yards, raves, and nightclubs, etc. They are often improvisational and social in nature encouraging interaction and contact with spectators and the other dancers. These dances generally evolve out of urban and suburban spaces in some form of underground culture/region; they are a part of the vernacular culture of that geographical area (as if they were folk dances; although since the advent of the internet, the dances seem to be shared amongst people with the same musical interest worldwide). Therefore, street dance refers to modern folk dance with the term 'street' being more accurate since much of the modern world is now urbanized. // Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia LANG-AY FESTIVAL in Bontoc, Mountain Province. ...

Dressing up a Santo Niño Figure in Gaddang Tribe Costume

This image of the Santo Niño is being transformed into a work of art - a model of intricately beaded ceremonial garments. "The Santo Niño devotion is a famous spiritual heritage spread all throughout the Philippines and there are Filipinos who unquestionably attribute the miraculous powers of the infant Jesus, locally known as the Santo Niño even to the simplest of things." The costume that is being fitted on the figure is the cultural pride of the Gaddang tribe of Paracelis, Mountain Province in the Northern Philippines. "Exquisite beadwork are trademarks of the Gaddang textiles." It has a lavish embroidery in bright, fiery colors. It is carefully done on handwoven cloth. "Most ceremonial garments have beaded seams and the front flaps of male G-strings as well as male kerchiefs and shirts may display intricate beadwork." The cape which symbolizes the wings has feather-like desig...

Mysterious Faces of Mount Mong-o

Viewed from a distance, there are strange human faces  carved naturally on this side of the mountain. Old woman and a young man.. Once you see the images, you seem to be seeing more.. .. and they would appear different each time There was a story of a woman who suffered so much pain. She ended her agony on this cliff. She slid down onto a crag, and her soul may now be in a deep painless oblivion. Then.. a man on a drunken stupor fell as he ran blindly in the dark, slipping on the carpet of pine needles, then down the cliff into nothingness. The arch of pinetrees may had been a bait for confused souls. It has a magnet to the edge of nowhere. What mystery does Mount Mong-o hold? Interesting. But the images may just be incidental structures formed in time by the forces of nature. Poignant images of a late afternoon as we eke out meanings for Mong-o. Photo/info ...

Choosing Paths

Choose always the way that seems the best, however rough it may be; custom will soon render it easy and agreeable.
